Mozambique

Do you dream of idyllic white bounty beaches with the finest powder sand and a bright blue sea, so clear that you can see the fish swimming? Exotic Mozambique is the perfect destination for a paradise beach holiday. Tourism here is still small-scale, so you can completely relax.

Best time to travel

The best time to travel to Mozambique is in the dry season, from May to October. During this period, temperatures are pleasant and there is little rain. Perfect to enjoy the paradise coast!

Climate

On the coast, the temperature fluctuates between 25 and 30 degrees all year round. Inland, it is somewhat cooler. The rainy season lasts from November to April. During this period, sometimes so much rain falls that the roads become impassable.

Recommendations

Exotic, remote and unspoilt: Mozambique is still a well-kept secret among travellers. There are no beaten tracks here yet. You will therefore have the tropical bounty beaches largely to yourself.

Paradise beaches and tropical islands

With its heavenly beaches and tropical islands, Mozambique is the ideal place to completely unwind. The population is doing its best to overcome the legacy of the civil war, and will therefore welcome you with open arms. Although tourism is still very small-scale here, you will find beautiful and luxurious lodges on the beach. Crazy about water sports? Then discover the wonderful underwater world of Mozambique, with amazing coral reefs where whale sharks, manta rays and turtles fill the blue sea water. A dream destination for divers! Why

Mozambique?

Discover deserted beaches

We’ve said it before: the heavenly beaches of Mozambique are still unknown to the general public. You feel as if you are on a deserted island, where you hear nothing but the sound of the sea.

Relax in luxury

Although tourism in Mozambique is still in its infancy, there are plenty of luxury lodges to choose from, making the country the perfect destination for a honeymoon or a relaxing beach holiday where you can fully recharge.

Learn to dive in Tofo

Have you always wanted to learn how to dive? On the coast of Mozambique you will find several good diving schools. For example in the charming fishing village of Tofo, on the Inhambane peninsula. There are diving locations for both beginners and experienced divers.
“We had a wonderfully organized trip through South Africa and Mozambique thanks to Tessa! Top organized and she put a lot of time into it, very grateful for her work. Highly recommended!”

Portuguese heritage in Mozambique

Mozambique’s main language is Portuguese. This is due to the Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama, who discovered the country in 1498 during an expedition from Portugal to India. He was forced to stop in Mozambique due to a lack of water. Da Gama and his crew were warmly welcomed by the locals, who had lavished traditional decorations on them. Mozambique was soon colonized. Today, the Portuguese influence can still be felt in Mozambique’s architecture, music, and local cuisine, among other things.

Our accommodations

Mozambique has a wide range of very luxurious lodges. Many of these accommodations are a good example of how sustainable tourism can contribute to the conservation of nature and the well-being of the population. The lodges work closely with the local communities, offer them employment and support social projects in the villages. In addition, tourism ensures that wild animals can be better protected.

Honeymoon

and luxury beach holiday in Mozambique is the ideal honeymoon destination. For example, on the Bazaruto Archipelago, a national park with five paradise islands surrounded by coral reefs. Think of deserted beaches with white powder sand, rolling dunes and the clearest warm sea water. Mozambique can be easily combined with a safari through South Africa, Namibia or Botswana.

History

Mozambique has a rich history, influenced by indigenous cultures and colonial rule. Historic buildings, such as the Ilha de Mozambique, bear witness to Portuguese colonization with beautiful architecture, while old churches, such as the Chapel of Nossa Senhora Baluarte, reflect the country’s religious heritage. These monuments tell the story of Mozambique’s past and the diverse influences that have shaped it.

About the birds and the bees: the social projects of Your Africa Journey

Sustainability is more than a buzzword for Jouw Afrika Reis. Of course, our trips have an impact. We do everything we can to make it as positive as possible. For example, we support various social projects to improve the lives of the local population. Like Honeybee Heroes, a project that allows our travelers to adopt a beehive in the Western Cape of South Africa. Thanks to this project, a woman without an income now has a job that allows her to send her children to school, and at the same time we help nature.
