Climate

From subtropical to Mediterranean and desert-like: the climate in South Africa is different in every region. The summers (from December to February, opposite to our seasons) are pleasantly warm, while the winters are cool, but mostly sunny.

“Tessa carefully and with great attention to our personal wishes put together a fantastic trip to South Africa. We also had regular contact during our trip and Tessa made sure that everything went exactly as desired. Top class!!”

South Africa in numbers

With a surface area of 1,123,226 km2, South Africa is more than 30 times larger than the Netherlands. It is therefore not surprising that their population of 45 million is also almost three times as large as that of the Netherlands. The coastline stretches over a distance of no less than 3,000 kilometers, so plenty of beaches to choose from! Furthermore, South Africa consists of 21 natural regions and 9 provinces, with Pretoria bearing the title of capital.

Our accommodations

South Africa has beautiful accommodations for every budget. From luxury ecolodges in the wilderness, where you can come face to face with an elephant, to lovingly run guesthouses by the local population. All our accommodations have been carefully selected and visited by Jouw Afrika Reis. Sustainable, local, small-scale and with an eye for both people and animals.

Safari

In addition to the famous Kruger Park, South Africa has many smaller private game reserves where day trippers are not allowed and stricter rules apply. For example, you are never allowed to look at an animal with more than three cars. Here you have the wild animals all to yourself!

Culinary

The price-quality ratio is unparalleled in South Africa. Braai, bobotie and the very best steaks: in South Africa you can still have a fine dinner for an affordable price. Your Africa Journey has personally visited and tried out all the recommended restaurants, so that you only get the best of the best. The perfect destination for gourmets!

Visit the vineyards with our local wine guide Marinus

Your Africa Journey works directly with local partners in South Africa. We always aim for personal and local relationships with an eye to the future. For example, we never book a standard wine tour for you, but you go into the vineyards with our local wine guide Marinus. In addition, we increasingly work with local female guides, so that more employment opportunities are created for women. Want to know more about our local partners? Then read more here.

About the birds and the bees: the social projects of Your Africa Journey

Sustainability is more than a buzzword for Jouw Afrika Reis. Of course, our trips have an impact. We do everything we can to make it as positive as possible. For example, we support various social projects to improve the lives of the local population. Like Honeybee Heroes, a project that allows our travelers to adopt a beehive in the Western Cape of South Africa. Thanks to this project, a woman without an income now has a job that allows her to send her children to school, and at the same time we help nature.
