Africa Traveling

Tanzania

Tanzania is a dream for nature lovers. Here you will find the most amazing landscapes and the largest concentration of wild animals in the world. But the Tanzanians themselves will also conquer your heart. Your Africa Travel will gladly show you the lesser-known parts of this beautiful country.

Best time to travel

The best time to travel to Tanzania is during the dry season, from June to October. Wildlife is easier to spot, especially at waterholes. This is also the best time to see the great migration.

Climate

Tanzania has a tropical climate, with temperatures varying by region and altitude. In the higher north, temperatures are cool and pleasant, on the coast and in the south it is much warmer.

Recommendations

The southern safari circuit is a lot less known than the busy north, but at least as much worth it. Think of the enormous Ruaha National Park, the savannahs of Katavi and the densely forested Mahale Mountains on Lake Tanganyika.

Known for

The endless plains of the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire National Park and Lake Manyara: Tanzania is famous for its safari parks, and rightly so. But Tanzania is much more than that, you will also find the largest concentration of wild animals in the world here, and amazing nature.

Safari fun for young and old and hidden treasures

Tanzania is the ultimate safari destination. From the big five in the famous Ngorongoro Crater to the millions of wildebeest that migrate through the equally famous Serengeti every year, but also the elephants of Tarangire, the flamingos in Lake Manyara, and we could go on and on. Add to that the snow-white beaches of Zanzibar, and you will immediately understand why Tanzania is so popular. But Tanzania has much more to offer than the well-known highlights. In the lesser-known south of the country you will find beautiful wildlife parks, where you will hardly encounter other tourists. You can also look for chimpanzees in the mystical Mahale Mountains, our personal favorite. Your Africa Travel will be happy to put together a dream trip for you, far away from the beaten track and the standard routes.

Why

Tanzania

Visit local coffee plantation

In Tanzania you will find a lot of coffee plantations where local coffee is grown. At one of our lodges you will meet our local partner, who has lived on the plantation her whole life and grows organic coffee. Learn how the process works and taste it!

Spotting Chimpanzees

Are you looking for adventure? Then go on a chimpanzee trek in the rainforest of the Mahale Mountains, a still unknown tourist gem and in our opinion one of the most beautiful places in Tanzania.

Take a balloon flight

A balloon flight over the Serengeti is the literal and figurative highlight of your tour through Tanzania. While the rising sun colors the sky orange-red, you float over the savannah, searching for wild animals. Unforgettable!
“Super nice trip made through Tanzania & Zanzibar. Tessa first infected us with her enthusiasm and then thought along with us what a good travel combination was. Super arranged, all sleeping places, rental car, guides, total care. Because she arranges everything you are surprised by locations and beautiful surprises. She knows the country well. In addition, it is also good to see that they are beautiful locations but that also contribute something to the community and often sustainable. Through her ice app and roadbook we but also children could follow everything well and also check it. In short, super arranged and definitely recommended!”

Noah's Ark

Did you know that the Ngorongoro Crater is also known as Noah’s Ark? This is due to the volcanic explosion that formed this impressive crater long ago. Today, the crater is probably home to the highest concentration of animals per square meter in all of Africa. The isolation, abundance of food and constant fertility have earned the Ngorongoro Crater the nickname ‘Noah’s Ark’. Even the lions here are considered to be the largest in all of Africa! With its unique ecosystem, breathtaking natural beauty and high concentration of game, the Ngorongoro Crater is not only the largest natural amphitheater in the world, but also the ideal location to see the big five!

Our accommodations

Tanzania has a wide range of accommodations, in all price ranges. We choose small-scale and sustainable lodges, guesthouses and campsites where the income goes directly to the local population. By choosing destinations off the beaten track, we also ensure that other parts of the country also benefit from tourism.

Safari

Tanzania is the safari destination par excellence. In addition to the well-known safari circuit in the north, there are also several unknown but beautiful game parks to discover in the south. Such as Ruaha National Park, with open plains interspersed with baobab trees, and Katavi, with enormous numbers of wild animals that you will have to yourself.

The coast of Tanzania

Tanzania is home to over 800 kilometres of pearly white sandy beaches, fringed by swaying palm trees and an azure blue sea. This creates an inviting backdrop for activities such as snorkelling, diving or simply relaxing on a towel.

Tourism with a positive impact

Sustainability is our standard. As a traveler, you don’t have to worry about that. We ensure that your dream trip is sustainable. Small-scale and local are our keywords. With community-owned accommodations and destinations off the beaten track, where we work directly with local partners. In this way, we ensure an authentic travel experience and at the same time contribute to the well-being of the local population. About the birds and the bees: the social projects of Your Africa Journey

Sustainability is more than a buzzword for Jouw Afrika Reis. Of course, our trips have an impact. We do everything we can to make it as positive as possible. For example, we support various social projects to improve the lives of the local population. Like Honeybee Heroes, a project that allows our travelers to adopt a beehive in the Western Cape of South Africa. Thanks to this project, a woman without an income now has a job that allows her to send her children to school, and at the same time we help nature.
